HELP DESK TECHNICIAN

Hudson Valley Wireless is an established 12-year old Telecommunications / Infrastructure company that is expanding and looking to hire an Entry to Mid-Level Service / Installation technicians.

 

We currently support over 2,000 sq miles of network throughout the Capital Region delivering Broadband Internet Access to Rural Communities. 

 

Technicians will primarily troubleshoot problems with residential and commercial fixed wireless solutions that are installed as an alternative to the major Cable and Telephone companies Internet product.  We are looking for motivated individuals interested in working with technology and people.

 

Hudson Valley Wireless was awarded a large capital grant to expand Broadband Internet Access throughout the Capital Region.

  • DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    This position has the following key responsibilities:

    • Serving as the forst point of contact for customers and prospects seeking assistance over the phone or email
    • Troubleshoot and Configure Computers and Related Network Equipment at Customer Premise, Tower Sites and Office / Data Center
    • Configure Network Monitoring
    • Network Design for ISP and Clients
    • Maintain a strong attention to detail and complete required paperwork
    • Assist in other areas such as cleaning/organizing materials and storage
    • Maintain inventory of necessary materials and tools for company vehicles.
    • Recognize, practice, and ensure safety rules and procedures.
    • Keep company vehicle in clean, professional appearance.
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    ABOUT THE POSITION

     

    The Help Desk Technician helps to monitor and troubleshoot network equipment at the Data Center, Towers and Customer Premise.  Additional responsibilities may include troubleshooting / maintenance of wireless equipment, backup power systems and related network infrastructure.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5PM
    • Must be able to work some overtime as needed and/or without advance notice
    • Must be able to be on call to service equipment as necessary and often without advanced notice

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Key qualifications required to fill this position are:

  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Must be Self-Motivated with a “Get it Done” attitude
  • Individual must be professional and possess the ability to complete tasks with minimal direction
  • Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Possess basic computer skills for installation and troubleshooting of customer LAN and WAN connections
  • Must have experience with hand tools and power tools
  • Familiar with electronics, digital radio technology, and cellular systems
  • Ability to use measuring and diagnostic tools to test, adjust, and repair electronic equipment
  • Must be willing to learn new technologies and perform additional duties as needed
