Hudson Valley Communications is an established 40+ year old Telecommunications / Infrastructure company that is expanding and looking to hire an Entry - Mid-Level Service / Installation technicians.


Technicians will primarily install structured cabling systems in commercial, institutional and industrial settings.   


We are looking for motivated individuals interested in working with technology and people. The position requires completing customer installations, service visits, troubleshooting and maintaining site infrastructure.

Hudson Valley Communications was founded in 1972 as a wireless communications company. In the 1990’s NEXTEL acquired our 800 MHz spectrum.  In 2002 we created Hudson Valley Wireless ( focusing on Rural Broadband and Disaster Recovery Solutions for Mission Critical Applications. 


Hudson Valley Communications (HVC) now focus on Structured Cabling and the deployment of IP Telephony, IP Security and Networking Equipment supporting over 2,000 active clients throughout the capital region.  HVC also focuses on the deployment of network related infrastructure for Hudson Valley Wireless including tower construction, site development and maintenance.

This position has the following key responsibilities:

  • Regularly climb ladders from heights ranging from 6’ to 12’
  • May occasionally climb 20’ – 40’ extension ladders and Mount antennas / reflector dish on roof; running cables on commercial and residential buildings in accordance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Operate motorized lifts and platforms
  • Run cabling (Category 5e, 6, and 6A, Fiber Optic, Coaxial) through commercial building pathways. 
  • Terminate, Test and Label cables at work station outlet and equipment room according to EIA / TIA standards
  • Layout and install building pathway systems, conduit, J-Hook according to industry standards
  • Rack and Stack related network equipment
  • Install systems in accordance with Federal, State and Local Building Codes
  • Install systems in accordance with EIA / TIA, BICSI Standards while following Employer and Customer Guidelines
  • Plan, measure cut and assemble various materials as required
  • Perform site maintenance such as cutting weeds, trees, bushes shoveling rock / dirt, installing grounding systems, servicing / repairing fences and gates
  • Maintain a strong attention to detail and complete required paperwork
  • Cleaning up after customer installation; removing boxes, pieces of cable, sheetrock dust, etc.
  • Assist in other areas such as cleaning/organizing materials and storage
  • Maintain inventory of necessary materials and tools for company vehicles.
  • Recognize, practice, and ensure safety rules and procedures.
  • Keep company vehicle in clean, professional appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned




The Cabling Infrastructure Technician helps to install & maintain structured cabling systems.  Additional responsibilities may include troubleshooting / maintenance of equipment, backup power systems and related network infrastructure.

  • Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5PM
  • Must be able to work some overtime as needed and/or without advance notice
  • Must be able to be on call to service equipment as necessary and often without advanced notice
  • Must be able to lift and carry over 50lbs and meet the 300lb weight restriction on ladders to comply with OSHA standards
  • May occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Represents Company in a Professional Manner


Key qualifications required to fill this position are:

  • High school education or equivalent required
  • Must be Self-Motivated with a “Get it Done” attitude
  • Individual must be professional and possess the ability to complete tasks with minimal direction
  • Experience working at heights
  • Excellent verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must be familiar with typical building construction and pathways
  • Possess basic computer skills for installation and troubleshooting of network connections
  • Must have experience with hand tools and power tools
  • Familiar with electronics, digital radio technology, and cellular systems (preferred)
  • Ability to use measuring and diagnostic tools to test, adjust, and repair electronic equipment
  • Must be willing to learn new technologies and perform additional duties as needed
